Ken & Dana Design- Environmentally friendly, socially responsible, gorgeous jewelry

I came across this amazing jewelry company while doing some late night internet searching.  Ken & Dana Design is a jewelry company based in NYC. Each piece is handcrafted, and they maintain a holistic approach to their business to ensure that each piece is environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and incredibly unique. I love how they mix organic shapes, with a touch of vintage into their pieces.  It’s really like nothing else out there right now.  Anyone who is in the market for an engagement ring, wedding band or a beautiful gift should definitely check out their stuff. Below are just a few of my favorites…

Made in the USA- American-made gift ideas

Buying products manufactured in the US not only supports American jobs, but it also is good for the environment.  The US manufacturing processes are much cleaner for the environment than many other countries, and lets not forget the polluting emissions that come with shipping goods overseas.  So, I’ve been doing what I can to support companies whose products are American-made and you should too!!  Below are just a few great gift ideas (for yourself or someone else) from around the web..

Suburban Riot Coverup-  From a company I love, this cover up/dress/long tee is so easy to wear.  Throw it on with a cute hat and sandals and you are good to go.

Blue Claw Co Ezeiza Weekender Bag-  Everyone needs a good weekender, right?  This one is handsome and well made.

Freshly Picked Baby Moccasins- I mean, could these be cuter?!  They come in a rainbow of colors too. LOVE.

Eyewinker Glassware-  These will bring a fun vintage vibe to any kitchen.  Adorable gift!

Hobnail Cotton Bedspread-  My grandma had one just like this!  So shabby chic!

Stash ipad Sleeve- These are handmade out of vintage fabric with a waterproof canvas liner and snap closure.  Super cool way to transport your ipad.  It would also make a great gift for the man in your life.

I wanted to share a website that I am obsessed with.  THE GLOW.  It is a series of photos of successful, fashionable moms with their children.  It is simple, beautiful and inspiring.  I hope you love it as much as I do…

Shoes for Spring

Spring is around the corner and the sun has begun to shine (at least in Southern California).  With the weather change comes a change in shoes and I thought I’d give you a couple of ideas for some summery kicks that will get you through the next 6 moths of sunshine.  I have broken it down into 5 categories: The basic sandal, the fun sandal, the sneaker, the colorful flat, and the heels. Here we go!

The basic sandal: You want to look for something in a neutral color so that it can literally go with any outfit.

The fun sandal: These fun flats will turn your basic outfit of denim shorts and a tee into a sassy, summery look.

The sneaker: These sneakers go with everything, and are light weight so won’t make your feet too hot in the sun.

The colorful flat: A pop of color can make an otherwise simple outfit fun and fashionable.  Choose a color scheme that goes with the colors you wear most.

The heels: A sexy, neutral colored heel will spice up any summer dress or even jeans and a simple top.

Adorable, affordable, vintage inspired wedding dresses, made in the US: Dahl

I came across this shop on Etsy (one of my favorite websites) and just had to share.  Dahl is a Brooklyn based company owned by Alison Dahl Kelly, whose passion is creating vintage-inspired dresses for party-goers, bridesmaids and brides.  I know a lot of girls are on a budget, especially when it comes to their weddings and I just thought these dresses were so sweet and reasonably priced.  I also love the idea of supporting an independent designer who hand makes her own original designs in the US.  Click here to read an interview with the designer and to access her Etsy shop.  It is a little hard to tell from the photos, but the dresses look well made and have a cool vintage feel that I think is just adorable.
